HOW IT WORKS

Beginning on March 2nd, Hazel Grove students will celebrate reading by working together to read 30,000 minutes over 3 weeks, ending on March 24th. Students will be asked to seek pledges from family, friends, neighbors and anyone else they want, in support of their reading.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Hazel Grove. This is one of two primary fundraisers for the Hazel Grove PTA and our goal is 100% reading participation. Students will have the opportunity to win individual prizes as well as prizes for their classrooms and we encourage children to work hard to get as many pledges as possible to support our school.

The Read-A-Thon will be conducted through the online donation site, Pledgestar. This streamlines the collection process and helps students reach a broader audience, without having to keep track of or handle money.  Once registered you will have a custom link to your child’s web page which you can share with family and friends to request donations.

Tip 1: Help your student make a short video to explain the Readathon and to ask for support. Something short and sweet that you can quickly send via email or social media.

Tip 2: You can use this copy for the email / text / social post to make it easier.
[Your student(s) first name] is participating in a Readathon in March, to raise money for [her/his] school.  This fundraiser will help fund the school library, reading resources, playground equipment, better teacher resources/education and much more. If you would like to donate, please visit our fundraising page: [insert URL(s) for student’s page].

If your child does not have computer access or prefers to personally solicit donations, they will still have the traditional envelope option. Pledge sheets are available online only. Due to COVID-19, the Readathon Team is requesting all donations to be made online. If that isn’t possible, download and print the Pledge Sheet and use an envelope from home. Please note that students must submit their envelope donations by Friday, March 24th, 2023 to their teacher to be counted online toward their class’s totals.
